Rushin Patel (GDC no. 103284)
Rushin graduated from the University of Bristol in 2006. Since then he has worked as a general dentist in the Bristol and Bath area. Rushin undertakes all aspects of general dentistry and has undertaken further training in Orthodontics, Cosmetic Dentistry and IV sedation. In recent years he has built a growing reputation for the treatment of anxious patients and was seen as a perfect fit to take the helm at St Michaels Dental Surgery by Calum – who is now reducing his responsibilities at the practice.
Outside of work, Rushin enjoys spending time and travelling with his young family. He enjoys playing and watching a variety of sports and can often be found on the golf course!
Calum Macpherson (GDC no. 61107)
Calum graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1986. Since qualifying, Calum has been in general practice at St Michael’s Dental Surgery where he has developed a practice with a reputation for successfully working with dentally anxious patients. A major milestone was achieved in 2009 when the practice relocated to a brand new, striking, 21st century premises. Calum has also been closely involved in the teaching of dental sedation to dental students, newly qualified dentists and dental nurses. He has also worked part-time at the sedation unit in Cardiff Dental Hospital and at the Oral Surgery Dept, Royal United Hospital, Bath.
Ben Attenborough (GDC no. 103773)
Ben graduated from the University of Leeds in 2006. Ben completed his vocational training in Mirfield, West Yorkshire, before moving to Leeds where he worked in a sedation practice, helping and treating anxious and dental phobic patients. In 2012 Ben and his family moved to Somerset, working in general practice in Wells before joining us in 2015. Ben completed his Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties (MJDF) exam at the Royal College of Surgeons, London in 2013. Ben has a keen interest in helping anxious patients overcome their fear of the dentist with a friendly and patient attitude.
Lizi Stockley (GDC no. 268178)
Lizi trained as a dental hygienist and therapist at the University of Liverpool and qualified in 2016, winning numerous prizes for outstanding academic performance. She has a compassionate and caring nature, seeing dental issues in a holistic manner and treating the individual not just the teeth! She loves to educate her patients in the prevention of dental diseases, and takes care in explaining and motivating her patients during her appointments to achieve the best possible results with the least intervention.
During her free time, Lizi loves to keep fit in the gym, watch rugby at the Principality Stadium with her family and explore the art and music scene in Bristol.
Darid Juliette Gaitan (GDC no. 297430)
Originally from Colombia, Juliette graduated with a degree in Dentistry from the Fundacion Universitaria San Martin, Bogota, Colombia in 2011. She took a work placement at a local dental clinic, treating both children and adult patients. When she arrived in the UK in 2017, she wanted to follow her career in dentistry, and has been a registered Dental Care Professional since 2021, now working as a dental hygienist and therapist. She moved to Bath in 2022 and has worked in the area ever since.Juliette is passionate about dental care and providing excellent support to the patient and the dental team. She has had several years of experience, both in the public and private sector. Juliette loves to learn about European history, visit new places and spending time with her family.
Claire Baron, Sedation trained dental nurse
Claire qualified as a dental nurse in 1986, and has worked in many different areas of dentistry – general practice, hospital and community services. Claire joined us in 2010, and her experience and enthusiasm is a great asset to the practice. Claire specifically enjoys working with children and dentally anxious patients.
Lyndsay Duffee, Dental Nurse
Lyndsay qualified in 1998 and over the past 20 years has gained her nursing experience in a variety of different practices. Other than an extended break to raise a family, Lyndsay has been a dental nurse since leaving school, and is the most recent addition to the nursing team, joining us in July 2021. Lyndsay enjoys all aspects of her job, particularly the interaction with patients and is keen to assist the dentists to ensure the patients experience is as positive as possible. Outside of work, Lyndsay is married with 3 children who manage to keep her busy!
Kelly Shore, Receptionist and Trainee dental nurse
Kelly joined the practice in 2020. Kelly initially worked on reception and her friendly, welcoming manner was an instant hit with our patients. This sparked a further interest in clinical dentistry for her and she is now undertaking her training to qualify as a dental nurse. Kelly has also stepped into a practice management role when needed – so she has experience in working throughout the practice.
Cathy Head, Sedition trained dental nurse
Cathy joined the practice in 2015. She qualified as a dental nurse in 1985 and has many years experience working in both general practice and the special care dental service, where part of her role was to assist in the care of dentally anxious patients.
Rachel Iles, Receptionist
Rachel is our principal dental receptionist, and for many patients is their first point of contact with the practice. Having joined us in 1996, Rachel’s caring, sympathetic and understanding approach have helped to make many patients’ visits to the dentist an altogether easier experience. Indeed, many of our patients now regard Rachel as their friend/personal confidante! Rachel’s broad knowledge base allows her to answer most queries patients may have regarding treatment.
Alex Wood, Sedation trained dental nurse
Alex has worked as a dental nurse since 1990, and gained her National Certificate in 1994. Alex has been with the practice since 2000, and is a very experienced dental nurse. However, Alex’s talents don’t end there, as she fills a dual role working on reception as well!
Hannah Patel Practice Manager
Hannah comes from a background of dental nursing after qualifying in 2006. Since then she has experience in both nursing and working on reception. In 2010 Hannah became the practice manager of 2 dental practice’s in Keynsham, which she managed for 7 years, before starting a family. She has now joined our team at St. Michaels and is responsible for the general day to day running of the practice.
